ESMA consults on remaining MIFID II implementing technical standards

On the 31st August 2015, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published a consultation paper in connection with the last remaining draft implementing technical standards under MiFID II; namely relative to trading suspensions, data service providers and derivatives reporting.

ESMA’s said consultation paper covers and provides the proposed draft implementing technical standards in relation to:

  • the suspension and removal of financial instruments from trading on a trading venue,
  • the notification and provision of information for data reporting services providers (DRSPs) and
  • the weekly aggregated position reports for commodity derivatives, emission allowances and derivatives thereof.

The consultation will run until the 31st October 2015, following which ESMA will finalise its draft implementing technical standards and send the same for endorsement to the European Commission. MiFID II/ MiFIR and its implementing measures will be applicable from the 3rd January 2017.

The full consultation paper is available for download from ESMA’s official website.
