On the 9th November 2015, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) issued its Q&A document regarding the implementation of the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) with a view to promoting uniform implementation and application of the market abuse regime.
ESMA’s Q&A document aims to facilitate supervisory convergence by providing clarity on existing market abuse requirements, rather than creating an extra layer of requirements
In providing responses to specific issues raised by the general public, market participants, investors and competent authorities, ESMA’s Q&A document aims to facilitate supervisory convergence by providing clarity on existing market abuse requirements, rather than creating an extra layer of requirements.
ESMA will update the Q&As as and when new questions or issues arise and may also review the questions and answers to verify whether any particular areas or issues merit the publication of specific ESMA guidelines and recommendations.
