MFSA Circular to Fund Managers – Automated submission of Financial Return

On the 9th June 2015, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) issued a Circular addressed to Fund Managers confirming that the submission of the Financial Return 2B has been fully automated with a view to facilitating the relative reporting requirements incumbent upon such Fund Managers.

The practical effect for Fund Managers is that, going forward, the submission of the aforesaid Financial Return 2B will be effected on-line through MFSA’s Licence Holder Portal, accessible from its official website.

Accordingly, the MFSA further confirmed that, when making use of the said online system, submission of returns by Fund Managers via email and hard copies is to be discontinued, save for the following, which must continue to be submitted to the MFSA in hard copy:

  • Representation Sheet – Sheet 7 of the Financial Return 2B – within one month from the reporting date;
  • Audited Annual Financial Return 2B (entire return) – within four months of the accounting reference date.

It is understood that additional guidance as to how to access the MFSA’s Licence Holder Portal will be circulated to Fund Managers via email by the 12th June 2015.
