MFSA Streamlines Application Process

On the 5th July 2016, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) issued a Circular to the financial services industry to confirm certain enhancements to the application process adopted by the Authorisations Unit of the Authority.

The changes are part of an ongoing drive by the MFSA to expedite and streamline the application process

The changes are part of an ongoing drive on the part of the MFSA to expedite and streamline the authorisation process in general and broadly comprise the following:

(i) With immediate effect, all MFSA licence applications and related enquiries are to be submitted in hard copy (by mail etc) and also electronically. The newly introduced electronic MFSA submissions are to be effected by email to the following e-mail addresses, depending on the applicable licensing regime:

Securities[email protected];

Banking and Financial Institutions – [email protected];

Insurance[email protected];

Pensions, Trusts and Corporate Services Providers (CSPs)[email protected].

(ii) As of the date of the aforementioned Circular, all Authorisation Certificates will be mailed directly to the applicant (as opposed to being made available for collection from the MFSA offices).
