MGA and IBIA Sign MoU on Betting Integrity Cooperation

The Sports Integrity Unit of Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) have entered into a betting integrity information sharing agreement, which came into force as of 19th December 2019, highlighting their respective commitment to protecting consumers, sports and betting markets from abuse.

The aforesaid Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is the first understanding of its kind to be implemented between the MGA’s recently created Unit and a betting monitoring system.

the IBIA and its members bring a wealth of market and consumer data that will undoubtedly serve to significantly strengthen the information and intelligence gathering ability of the Sports Integrity Unit

As part of the collaboration contemplated by the MoU, the IBIA will utilise its unique global betting monitoring system, which includes many of the largest MGA licensed operators, to provide information on suspicious betting to the MGA’s Sports Integrity Unit with a view towards preventing the manipulation of sports competitions.

The IBIA is the leading global voice on integrity for the regulated betting industry which operates a monitoring and alert platform that detects and reports suspicious activity on its members’ betting markets which has proven to be a highly effective anti-abuse tool.

The MGA has observed that the IBIA and its members bring a wealth of market and consumer data that will undoubtedly serve to significantly strengthen the information and intelligence gathering ability of the Sports Integrity Unit.
