On the 16th April 2015, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) published the industry feedback received by it in connection with the Consultation on Cloud Solutions for the Remote Gaming Industry, issued in October 2014. Various responses were received from key industry players including remote gaming operators, industry experts, sector associates and data centre operators.
The aim of the Malta Gaming Authority’s public consultation on the adoption of Cloud Computing solutions by remote gaming operators, launched back in October 2014, was to gather insights and feedback on the matter from key stakeholders and industry experts.
The consultation follows the proposed adoption by a number of remote gaming operators in Malta of Cloud Computing solutions to better manage their IT resources, thereby effectively taking advantage of the inherent flexibility and scalability of such solutions.

In view of the fact that migrating from the traditional environment to a cloud environment will present various challenges, the Authority aims to provide (in virtue of this public consultation) additional clarity on solutions involving converged infrastructure and shared services, with a view to ensuring good practice and giving the possibility to operators to mitigate any associated risks.
The Malta Gaming Authority reported that it is currently considering all responses carefully and that its official position will be published shortly.
